The Ukrainian bases, which are located on the Azov part of the liberated territories of Ukraine, should be occupied by Russian military personnel. This was stated on May 27 by Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region.
Area of significance: how Zaporozhye, which is not controlled by Ukrainians, lives now
Peaceful life is being established in cities and villages despite Kyiv’s efforts to prevent this
“My deep conviction is that the permanent presence of the Russian army should be the guarantee of the security of the Zaporozhye region. The former Ukrainian naval base “Vostok”, located in the liberated city of Berdyansk on the shores of the Sea of Azov, can become the location of the Russian military base. The air base in Melitopol will be even more useful,” he told the RIA Novosti agency.
According to him, such a step will ensure the safety of the residents of the Zaporozhye region.
Earlier that day, it became known that the region switched to the Moscow time system. Rogov noted that in the region, the clock hands will no longer be switched to winter and summer time.
In addition, on Friday, Georgy Muradov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea under the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, said that the issuance of passports and registration of Russian citizenship in Kherson and Zaporozhye will take place taking into account the similar experience of Crimea in 2014. He stressed that Russia’s decision to adopt such an experience indicates “a serious intention to ensure the safety of people.”
Meanwhile, the day before, Alexei Selivanov, deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Zaporozhye region, told Izvestia that at the moment 30 people have already come to the department to enroll themselves and their relatives in the queue for obtaining Russian citizenship.
As stated on May 26 in the State Duma, Russia will not leave and will not leave citizens living in the liberated territories of Ukraine without protection. Integration with Russia “opens up new development opportunities for the liberated territories,” said State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Mikhail Sheremet.
Also on that day, Volodymyr Rogov said that Ukraine had irrevocably lost access to the Sea of Azov, since the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions would never return under the control of the Kyiv regime.
On May 20, State Duma deputy from the Republic of Crimea Mikhail Sheremet said that NATO’s plans to build military bases in the Sea of Azov were thwarted, as Ukraine lost control of access to a strategically important facility as a result of a special operation by the Russian Federation.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. The operation began against the backdrop of the situation in the Donbass that worsened in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
