Meta is implementing the AMBER notification system on the social network Instagram, which helps to find lost children. First of all, the function will work in 25 countries around the world, including Ukraine.
What happened
The AMBER Alert program for missing children was launched in 1996 in the United States. In 2015, Facebook joined it, and in the fall of 2021 the system became available to Ukrainian users of the social network. Meta is now expanding its notification system and implementing it on Instagram. Already today AMBER Alert will work in 25 countries around the world, including Ukraine.
Users near the abduction site will receive a notification on their Instagram feed. This message will contain important information about the child: photo, description, place of abduction, etc. Users will also be able to share notifications with friends to engage as many people as possible.
