In the evening of June 6 at 19:00 Kyiv time, an event for developers of WWDC 2022 in the United States will begin, where Apple announces new firmware for its devices: iOS 16, watchOS 9, iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, macOS 13 Mammo.
We may not know for sure what will happen in iOS 16, but we have gathered all the insiders for you in the hope that many of them will be justified.
What’s new in iOS 16
The new flagship iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get the “Always on” feature. This means that even on a locked iPhone you can watch the time, maybe messages and some other data. All this will be configured in iOS 16.
Interactive widgets will be added.
A complete redesign of all the icons of standard applications in iOS 16 is not expected, but minor changes may be. It is sad to look at the same icons from year to year, but the owners of older iPhones admire the same icons on the display of their iPhones as the owners of new ones. In fact, since 2014, the design of iOS has not changed.
New standalone Apple Classic app for classical music.
New chips in the “Health” application.
Contactless payment “Tap to Pay” – iPhone money transfer. When one iPhone owner easily invoices another iPhone owner and the latter charges money with a touch-consent. In Russia, the service is unlikely to work so it is tied to the banks, and in Russia it is time for sanctions.
New standard applications can complement iOS 16.
Real-time subtitles. You can enable subtitles for any playing audio or video file. It is a very convenient feature, but it is unlikely that it will support the Russian language immediately after the release of iOS 16. Although anything can happen. It is also possible to limit hardware capabilities. Most likely, subtitles will be supported on iPhones from the 11th model range and above.
Ability to manually set icons for certain programs, both from a set of installed and arbitrary.
Duplicate the screen of the connected Apple Watch on the iPhone screen. For easy smart watch control. Most likely, it will not support all current Apple Watch, but starting with the Series 6. By the way, the new watchOS 9 (released in September 2022) will no longer support the popular in Russia Apple Watch Series 3.
Obstacle recognition for the visually impaired. Obviously, this feature will require LiDAR, which is only available in iPhones 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max and will be in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. The obstacle recognition function based on artificial intelligence and machine learning recognizes the obstacle and if it is, for example, a door, it will tell you where the handle is and in which direction it opens.
New design themes and fine-tuning e-book readers on the iPhone.
Explicit sound recognition function. There are banal sounds such as meowing, doorbells, sirens, etc., which the iPhone will now be able to recognize and send the message you need. The feature will require tuning and “training” for more accurate operation.
Focus on the iPhone will get new advanced settings and at the same time will be “closer to people” in terms of ease of use.
A new stand-alone program for combining and customizing Apple accessories is possible: Apple Watch, AirPods and AirTag.
The message center on the iPhone will be supplemented with new features.
A new type of wallpaper for iPhone will appear. Now they look like widgets.

Expected iOS release date 16
Preliminarily in the period from 13 to 20 September 2022 will be the release of iOS 16.
Before that, beta versions of iOS 16 firmware will be released all summer of 2022, which we will install on editorial iPhones and unsubscribe about innovations.
Do not rush to install iOS 16
First, all summer 2022 we will test the iOS 16 firmware and write on the site about everything we see. If you install the beta version of iOS 16 “hot” and out of curiosity, there may also be problems with applications running on the iPhone. Think of the “Navigator” program from Yandex, which worked incorrectly on iOS 14 beta. Do you need it?
Second, if your iPhone has the right apps installed and running that are no longer in the App Store, they will most likely work incorrectly or crash on iOS 16. Since these programs are “not allowed” in the App Store, no one will update them for compatibility with iOS 16.
