Details: Such changes are called “improvements” in the decree.

Previously, the KGB was also subordinate to the government of Belarus and the Security Council.

In addition, Lukashenka renamed the Institute of National Security into the Academy of National Security.

Reference: The KGB of Belarus is the successor to the KGB of the Belarusian USSR. In 1991, after the country’s independence was declared, a decree was signed on the formation of the State Security Committee.

With regard to the KGB of Belarus, there is a lot of evidence of its action as a repressive body, of illegal detentions, torture and disappearances of opposition activists.
