Manchester United appear to be preparing for transfers ahead of a seismic summer of change as new manager Erik ten Hag is expected to reshape the Red Devils squad
The end of the season can’t come sooner enough for Manchester United.
A disastrous season has seen the Red Devils go another year without a trophy and fall sharply behind in the Premier League as they bid to qualify for next season’s Europa League. However, the impending arrival of Erik ten Hag offers hope for a new dawn on the horizon.
The Dutchman, who is reportedly considering taking part in United’s final game of the season next weekend, will oversee a seismic summer of change at the club with a much-needed squad overhaul. In this sense, mirror football rounds up all the latest transfer news from Old Trafford…

Ronaldo’s “leak” points to the future
Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have dropped the biggest hint yet that he will stay at United. There was much speculation as to whether the Portuguese superstar would remain at Old Trafford to fulfill the second half of the two-year deal he signed last summer following United’s disastrous campaign.
Despite fears the 37-year-old would leave to quench his thirst for participation in the Champions League and fighting for honours, it seems the striker could remain at Old Trafford after all. That’s because a series of images of Ronaldo modeling United’s new home and away kits for next season have been leaked.
The snaps showing the Red Devils’ symbol in the new threads have led many to speculate their talisman will remain at the club despite the lack of Champions League football. The pictures of Ronaldo wearing the unreleased shirt come just days after the forward admitted he is “excited” at the prospect of working under Ten Hag.
United suffer Neve’s blow
A key area United look set to tackle this summer is the club’s midfield, but any Red Devils hopes of swooping down for Wolves enforcer Ruben Neves in the summer appear to have been dealt a blow. United were thought to be one of several Premier League clubs interested in snapping up the Portuguese midfield maestro, but now a move abroad seems on the cards for the 25-year-old.
According to SPORT, Neves is set to join Xavi’s revolution by joining Barcelona in the summer, thus dampening United’s interest. The Spanish outlet claims the financially strapped Catalan club are eyeing a number of potential midfield options, but the Wolves man is first choice and a deal is said to be ‘close’.
It is understood that Barcelona are trying to take advantage of their close relationship with Neves’ agent Jorge Mendes to push through a deal at a reduced price. It is also said that Neves, who has long been admired by United, is keen on a move to the Nou-Camp.

United working on Phillips deal
Amid rumors that United are looking to reunite Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong with Ten Hag at Old Trafford this summer, the Red Devils also appear to be making moves for another midfielder in Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips. United have reportedly started structuring a deal to sign the 26-year-old this summer as new faces are needed at the center of the park.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Phillips intends to change agents soon in a bid to break away from the relegation-threatened Whites at the end of the season. The midfielder has two years left on his current contract at Elland Road.
Phillips has established himself as one of the highest-rated midfielders in the Premier League outside of the ‘Big Six’ and his excellent individual performances in the Premier League over the past two seasons have made him a key member of Gareth Southgate’s England team. Should Leeds fail to secure their Premier League status, it seems increasingly likely that Phillips will make an inevitable move this summer.
