The Moscow region will provide children with diabetes with glucose monitoring devices. This was announced on Wednesday, July 6, by the governor of the region Andrei Vorobyov.

According to the official, continuous glucose monitoring devices for children with type 1 diabetes were purchased in the region. According to him, 1,250 patients will be provided with equipment at the initial stage.

The devices have already been delivered to the Research Clinical Institute of Childhood of the Regional Ministry of Health, the 360 ​​TV channel clarifies. Thanks to these devices, according to Vorobyov, parents will be able to constantly monitor the situation and understand whether everything is in order with the child, whether there is an additional need for insulin.

The governor clarified that 2.5 thousand children with type 1 diabetes are under dispensary observation. Parents asked them to provide monitoring systems. All children who need them will be provided with special sensors.

Continuous glucose monitoring systems allow you to monitor your blood sugar levels in real time using a mobile application. With the help of these devices, the doctor will be able to monitor the condition of the young patient and adjust the treatment.

Endocrinologists in the region have already been trained to work with new equipment, the website kp.ru writes. You can get the device from the attending physician at the place of residence. He will enroll the child in NIKI, where the patient will be given the device and the system of its work will be explained.

At the end of June, it became known that an individual diet, developed for children with diabetes and allergies to a number of products, will be prepared for pupils of five kindergartens and students of five schools in Balashikha near Moscow. According to the Moscow City News Agency, specialized menus have been developed for children with diabetes, intolerance to cow’s milk protein, allergies to poultry meat, eggs, and fish.

In May, Natalia Balashova, an endocrinologist, researcher at the M. Vladimirsky Clinical Institute (MONIKI), spoke about the risk factors for diabetes. According to NSN, people with abdominal obesity (in the abdomen) are at risk. A large waist circumference can trigger type 2 diabetes. Sedentary lifestyle, malnutrition, obesity and pancreatic dysfunction are the main causes of this disease.
