Authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo called the timing of the development and release of a new headset from Sony PlayStation VR2. He published his forecast on the social network Twitter, reports The Verge.
“My latest supply chain check showed that mass production of VR headsets will begin in the second half of 2022,” the insider said. According to him, Sony plans to produce about 1.5 million PS VR2.
Kuo also pointed out that the PlayStation VR2 is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2023. The analyst noted that the exact release date depends on the readiness of helmet-exclusive games.
Earlier, Sony officially showed the PlayStation VR 2 headset. It is noted that when creating the updated helmet, Sony designers were inspired by the PlayStation 5 console.
PlayStation VR 2 was announced back in 2021. The headset will be an update of the company’s first development in the field of virtual reality devices. The original PlayStation VR went on sale in October 2016 and was intended for the PlayStation 4 game console.
