Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have hit 48 areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), two artillery batteries and two ammunition depots in the areas of Nikolaevka and Berestovoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) with high-precision air-launched missiles over the past 24 hours. This was announced on May 26 at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
“In the area of the settlement of Dneprovskoye, Mykolaiv region, the Ukrainian center of electronic intelligence was destroyed, including 11 military personnel of the combat crew, as well as 15 foreign specialists of engineering and operational staff who arrived with protection,” Konashenkov said.
Also, the major general added that in the area of Nikolaevka, Russian troops destroyed the Ukrainian launcher of the Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system. And in the Chuguev region of the Kharkiv region, the radar for illumination and guidance of the Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed.
According to the latest information from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed: 179 aircraft, 127 helicopters, 1019 unmanned aerial vehicles, 323 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3266 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 433 installations of multiple launch rocket systems, 1682 field artillery guns and mortar, as well as 3190 units of special military vehicles.
A day earlier, the department said that Russian troops launched a strike with three Kalibr missiles on the military infrastructure of Ukraine by a frigate from the Black Sea.
In addition, on the same day, the head of the National Center for Defense Control of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mizintsev, said that Ukrainian troops had deployed heavy weapons in medical facilities in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in Ukrainian cities. In particular, armored vehicles and artillery firing positions are located on the territory of medical facilities in Lisichansk and Slavyansk.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. The operation began against the backdrop of the situation in the Donbass that worsened in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
