Russian New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin provided two assists in Game 6 of the NHL semi-final series against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The meeting of the teams took place in New York and ended with a score of 5:2 (2:0, 2:2, 1:0) in favor of the hosts.
Shesterkin assisted on the second and fourth goals scored – first to Mik Zibanejad, then to Philip Khitil.
In total, Shesterkin saved 37 shots out of 39 in the game, after two assists he was recognized as the second star of the match and the fifth goalkeeper in the history of the NHL playoffs with so many assistant doubles.
In 13 playoff games, the Russian scored three assists.
The seventh meeting between the teams will take place in Raleigh on May 31st. They will compete for the Stanley Cup Finals.

Goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin successfully saved 42 shots, while goals were scored by Chris Kreider (8), Keandre Miller (32), Mika Zibanejad (55). Forward Artemiy Panarin secured the club’s entrance into the second round, scoring the decisive fourth goal in overtime.
The New York Rangers have won the Stanley Cup four times, most recently in 1994.
