The Czech company SCS Software refused to release the Heart of Russia update for the Euro Truck Simulator 2 simulation game, reports The Verge. In a blog post, the game developer said the release is being canceled to “not be perceived in any way as support or tolerance for aggression.”
The game Euro Truck Simulator 2, which allows you to play a truck simulator, was released in 2012 and has maps with roads from different countries. When the expansion for Russia Heart of Russia was announced in March 2021, the developer announced that regions of the “upper Volga” would appear there. According to the developer, on February 24, when the invasion of Ukraine began, approximately six to eight weeks remained before the completion of the Heart of Russia expansion. The company initially claimed to have donated to humanitarian aid charities and subsequently donated all proceeds from sales of the Ukrainian Paint Jobs Pack DLC, which sold over 85,000 copies. In the end, the company was forced to abandon the Russian card.
According to the blog post, SCS leaves the possibility of issuing a Russian card in the future after the restoration of Ukraine.
