Ukrainian nationalists pretend to be refugees in order to cross the border with the Russian Federation, about 250 such persons have already been identified. This was announced on Friday, May 27, by the First Deputy Director – Head of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia, General of the Army Vladimir Kulishov.
“Due to the growing military danger and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Donbass, the flow of refugees from Ukraine has significantly increased. Since mid-February, more than 1 million 200 thousand Russian and Ukrainian citizens have been admitted to the Russian Federation. Under the guise of refugees, right-wing radical and nationalist elements, including those who participated in the hostilities, are trying to penetrate our country, ”he said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to the general, the situation became more complicated after the completion of border cooperation with Kyiv. Against this background, attempts were made to demarcate disputed areas. In addition, Kulishov announced an increased risk of provocations from sabotage and reconnaissance groups and special services of Ukraine.
Also, the increased attention of border guards is required by: the Crimean transport crossing and the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
Earlier, on May 24, in the Kursk region bordering Ukraine, the yellow level of terrorist danger was extended until June 8. According to the governor of the region, this will help Russian special services to ensure the protection of the population. The terrorist threat level has been extended in the border areas several times since April 11. Thus, the “yellow” level operates in five northern and two eastern regions of Crimea, in the territories of the Belgorod and Bryansk regions and in two regions of the Voronezh region.
On April 29, the Federal Security Service detained in Crimea a resident of the Kherson region, suspected of participating in the activities of one of the Ukrainian nationalist formations. A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect.
Earlier in April, political scientist Sergei Stankevich proposed to legislate the concept of a zone of increased military danger in connection with the shelling of the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine. He noted that it is especially dangerous when drones are used, which are difficult to see. According to him, effective protection against them has not yet been invented.
In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics asked for recognition of their independence and announced the evacuation of the civilian population to Russia. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree. On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass.
