Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is going to make Germany responsible for the defeat of the Kyiv regime, making sharp attacks on the German authorities. We are talking about both the current Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his predecessor, Angela Merkel. This opinion was expressed by the readers of Der Spiegel on 15 June.
“You already understand everything when you hear Zelensky and his outrageous demands on the news. What does the Ukrainian president have to do with meddling in German affairs? Who is he to keep making demands? He could state his requests in the form of petitions, but nothing more, ”notes a commentator under the nickname Rosa-WyHOIXsnR.
“Zelensky can demand or criticize. Now, whether Scholz accepts criticism or fulfills the requirements is a completely different question. Scholz is primarily devoted to the interests of Germany, and does not work in the “foreign service” of the President of Ukraine. <…> This (a mismatch of interests. – Ed.), however, does not mean that the Ukrainian president should behave like a teacher, read him morality and dictate, ”the PeterG1965 reader will be indignant.
Another person under the pseudonym DjiaCKiobL… shared the feeling that Ukraine is preparing a “scapegoat”, referring to the FRG, in case the Ukrainian side is broken.
“This is such a “legend of a stab in the back”: if Germany had quickly supplied us with heavy weapons, we would have won,” he said.
On June 14, the German newspaper ZDF published an interview with Zelensky, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with Scholz’s desire to “maintain a balance” in relations between Kyiv and Moscow. The Ukrainian leader added that it was time for Germany to “choose and prioritize”. In turn, readers of the publication reacted angrily to Zelensky’s criticism of the German Chancellor.
Before that, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk was skeptical about the help and support from Germany, commenting on the data on the country’s imports of Russian energy resources. The diplomat attached to the message a screenshot of Die Welt’s article on the record high fuel supplies from Russia to Germany. According to the newspaper, Germany paid €15.8 billion for the first quarter of 2022.
At the same time, on June 9, Bundestag deputy from Alternative for Germany, Steffen Kotre, told Izvestia that he considers it necessary to resume economic cooperation between Moscow and Berlin, as well as to continue dialogue at the political level.
On June 6, Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, reproached Berlin for the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the delay in the supply of weapons from Germany is seriously affecting the situation.
Kyiv regularly demands more weapons and funds from the West. Against the backdrop of a special operation carried out by Russia to protect the civilian population of Donbass, the EU countries and the United States have significantly increased the flow of weapons and weapons going to Ukraine.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. The operation began against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region in mid-February.
