One of the largest money operators MoneyGram will allow customers to use their cryptocurrency to transfer funds around the world. This will allow users, including Ukrainians, to transfer their stablecoins and convert them into fiat currency.
Alex Holmes, chief executive of MoneyGram, said in an interview with Bloomberg that this will be possible through a partnership with the non-profit organization Stellar Development Foundation. She is responsible for managing the Stellar blockchain and the XLM cryptocurrency.
“In fact, the worlds of cryptocurrency and fiat are incompatible today. We are trying to become a bridge from the crypto world to the fiat world,” says Holmes.
To send cryptocurrency via MoneyGram, you must have an active digital wallet on the Stellar blockchain. In fact, customers are offered to convert their stablecoins USD Coin (USDC) into fiat currency and send it through the payment system.

Despite the collapse of the Terra blockchain ecosystem and its native token LUNA and algorithmic stablecoin UST, Holmes remains confident in the cryptocurrency. He believes that such assets will survive any volatility and market downturns, but for this, the adoption of cryptocurrencies plays an important role.
“There are billions of people in the world who depend on cash for everything, but could benefit from digital assets and blockchain. The answer lies in what we are creating through this partnership – a service that helps them move from cash to digital assets,” Denel Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation, says.
Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that a feature for cryptocurrency payments was added to the WhatsApp messenger. To do this, you will need to create a Novi crypto wallet, select a user and send him the required amount directly to the chat.
