And why Ukraine’s provocations will not be able to influence the voting process

According to the head of the CEC, the decision at the referendum in the LPR will be considered approved if more than half of the voters included in the lists of participants support it.

“There are 1,360,768 referendum participants in the Luhansk People’s Republic who, as of September 23, are included in the lists of referendum participants. Thus, the decision at the referendum will be considered approved if 680,385 participants of the referendum vote in support of it with their vote on the ballot,” she explained.

Chairman of the election committee of the Zaporozhye region Galina Katyushchenko, in turn, said that the referendum in the region will be considered valid when more than 50% of the population vote.

The turnout following the results of two days of voting became known the day before. In the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) it was 55%, in the LPR – 45.9%, in the Zaporozhye region – 35.5%, in the Kherson region – 31.8%.

At the same time, the results of a sociological survey conducted by specialists from the Russian research company INSOMAR were made public. According to him, joining Russia is supported by 97% of the residents of the LPR, 94% of the DPR, as well as 84% of the residents of Zaporozhye and 83% of Kherson regions.

Earlier, on September 20, residents of the Zaporozhye region told an Izvestia correspondent about their attitude to the referendum. The people expressed their hope that its holding would contribute to the cessation of shelling, the establishment of order and stability, and an increase in living standards.

From 23 to 27 September in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, referendums are being held on the issue of reunification with Russia. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow will support the decision about its future that will be made by the majority of the inhabitants of these regions.

Almost the entire territory of Kherson and the Azov part of the Zaporozhye regions were liberated by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the military operation carried out by Moscow since February 24 to protect the DPR and LPR. Its beginning was preceded by the aggravation of the situation in the region, the appeal of the leadership of the Donbass republics to the Russian Federation with a request for help and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the DPR and LPR.
Kyiv has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état in Ukraine, since 2014.
