This product, beloved by Ukrainians, lowers cholesterol levels by 25 times

High cholesterol is one of the most common forms of heart disease.

But there is one spice that can lower LDL cholesterol by up to 25 times.

Heart disease threatens a person when too much of a fatty-lipid substance known as cholesterol accumulates in the arteries.

The result of this accumulation is hypertension, also known as high blood pressure.

High blood pressure can dramatically increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. Hence, it is important to keep cholesterol levels low to prevent cardiovascular disease.

The Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine recently conducted a meta-analysis on the effectiveness of garlic in lowering cholesterol levels.

Meta-analysis is the study of data from several independent studies on the same issue.

In essence, the university analyzed data from other studies to see if they came up with similar results.

They found that “the effect of garlic on lowering total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein is more pronounced at lower dosage and longer duration, especially in patients with cardiovascular disease.”

According to 22 studies analyzed, garlic was found to be effective in lowering total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein.

Low density lipoprotein is one of two types of cholesterol, the other is known as high density lipoprotein. Their difference lies in the effect on the body.

While high-density lipoproteins are essential for overall health, low-density lipoproteins build up as plaque in the arteries, causing high blood pressure.

Along with exercise, cholesterol can also be balanced by quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption.
