Trump was banned from Twitter after the bloody riots at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
In a new post on Monday, the ex-president said he is the top star of Truth Social. Trump launched the social media platform in February 2022 and called it a friendly alternative to Twitter. During the launch, he said there would be little to no “regulation” for false claims or content that incites violence.
The microblogging platform blocked Trump days after he reportedly called on a crowd of his supporters to storm the Capitol and prevent the “stealing” of the election results. Riots outside the Capitol resulted in the deaths of five people, including a Capitol police officer.

The former president vowed not to return to Twitter weeks after Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he would restore Trump’s social media account if the deal to acquire the company goes through. He added that he believes Twitter’s decision to permanently ban Trump in January 2021 was a mistake.
“I really think that it was wrong to ban Donald Trump from this social network, I think it was a mistake,” Musk said in his speech at the Financial Times conference “The Future of the Car”. “I would lift the permanent ban.”
“Blocking Trump on Twitter will not end his voice, it will strengthen him on the right, which is why it is immoral and downright stupid,” he added.

Musk, however, noted at the time that his Twitter purchase was not yet complete. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) must first review and approve Musk’s offer to buy the social network. The SEC is currently investigating Musk’s late disclosure of his stake in the company.
