In an interview with Sky News, US General Cyber Commander-in-Chief Paul Nakasone confirmed for the first time that he and his colleagues had “conducted a series of operations” in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“I am worried every day about the risk of a Russian cyberattack targeting the United States,” Paul Nakasone said, “so cyber advance, which can detect Russian hackers and their intentions, is an effective means of protecting the United States and its allies.” We have conducted a series of operations across the spectrum: offensive, defense and information operations. ”
The general did not elaborate on the offensive operations, but explained that they were legal, carried out under full civilian oversight of the military and in accordance with the policy adopted by the Ministry of Defense.
“My job is to provide a number of options for the Minister of Defense and the President, which I do,” Nakasone added.
