This was reported by “News of Donbass” and an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko.
Representatives of the so-called “LPR” said that from June 3, temporarily restrict access to the Viber messenger in some areas of Luhansk region. The leaders of the illegal group also added that this was “a response to the repeated increase in the use of the service as part of the enemy’s military infrastructure in order to obtain geolocation data and find our critical military-civilian infrastructure.”
LNR claims that with the help of Viber, the Ukrainian military is finding targets. Exactly how the messenger is used for military purposes was not explained in the statement.
At the same time, Andryushchenko asked to switch to other messengers to communicate with relatives who are in the temporarily occupied territories, so as not to endanger them.
