In an interview with TASS on Friday, May 27, the specialist said that the capital’s weather will begin to change to summer mode on the upcoming Sunday, May 29.
According to Vilfand, on Saturday, May 28, light precipitation, partly cloudy weather are still expected, the air temperature will be +17…+19 degrees, but there will be sunshine.
On Monday, according to forecasts, the thermometers will show +18…+22 degrees. On Tuesday and Wednesday it will already warm up to +25 degrees.
Vilfand explained that the restructuring of the weather to the summer regime will also mean that nighttime temperatures will be above +10 degrees.
“These temperatures are associated with summer, of course,” he concluded.
Earlier, on May 27, the head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations warned of heavy rain until 07:00 Friday. According to the city news agency Moskva, drivers were advised to significantly reduce speed and increase the distance, as well as avoid sudden maneuvers on the road, and do not park cars near trees. Pedestrians were advised to avoid rickety structures, billboards, take cover under trees, and keep children away.
On May 26, Vilfand reported that “explosive rains” in the capital would bring 25–30% of the monthly rainfall for May 26 and 27. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also expected. The city has a “yellow” level of weather danger, writes REGNUM.
On May 22, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonovosti news agency, predicted rain in Moscow on May 26 and 27.
In mid-May, Evgeny Tishkovets, chief specialist of the Fobos weather center, said that a warm summer is expected in the European part of Russia this year without any extreme temperature deviations. According to the Zvezda TV channel, “neither extreme heat nor extreme cold” is expected in June. At the same time, in July and August, the air temperature will exceed the norm, but without significant deviations from the usual indicators.
