Voenkor Izvestia showed the performance of combat missions by MI-26 helicopters

Dozens of combat vehicles, including MI-26 multi-purpose transport helicopters, take off daily from the field airfield of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Their work during the special operation to protect the inhabitants of Donbass was shown by Izvestia correspondent Linar Ginatullin.

MI-26 is the largest military transport helicopter in the world. He is able to simultaneously transport 80 paratroopers in full uniform.

At the same time, during the special operation, MI-26 helicopters are carried to the Russian military for advanced logistical assistance. This time they accompanied the K-52 when tracking down the enemy in order to defeat him.

During the first sortie, the KA-52 took to the battle route, having examined the points where the Armed Forces of Ukraine could be located. At the same time, the helicopter was almost shot down by an enemy NAR, an unguided aircraft missile.

On the next flight, a MI-8 joined the K-52 helicopter for safety.

“Our task is 10 kilometers away, to observe [it is necessary]. And in the event of a forced landing, pick up the crew, ”said the navigator of a heavy transport helicopter.

The KA-52 took off first. Next is a transporter, in the cabin of which the commandos are in full combat readiness. The helicopter flew at an extremely low altitude: 5-10 meters. This was necessary to make it more difficult for the enemy to detect a combat vehicle, and for the Russian military to better examine the area.

The squadron quickly reached the point where MI-8 fell behind. The helicopter circled the area, and the fighters followed the possibly lurking enemy in the forest. At this time, the attack aircraft reached the target and opened massive fire on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Having completed the task without incident, the link returned to the airfield.

It is this well-coordinated work of army aviation that provides fire and tactical support for the ground units of our troops in a special operation to protect Donbass, the correspondent reported.

Earlier, on May 27, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the crews of the Nebo-T radar stations (RLS) on combat duty during the Russian special operation to protect Donbass. The main task of specialists is to fix air targets, and then transmit information to anti-aircraft missile forces and aviation.

On May 25, the Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat work of the crews of the S-300V anti-aircraft missile system. Servicemen of the Air Defense Forces are on combat duty to cover the Russian group of troops and settlements from air attack weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass on February 24. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.

The operation began against the backdrop of the situation in the Donbass that worsened in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
