Wes Nelson and Chelcee Grimes won the Olympics in a thrilling finale.
The ITV show ended tonight after five nights of exciting sporting events, with 12 celebrities taking part in a string of events including Women’s and Men’s Speed Climbing, Women’s Weightlifting and both men’s and women’s 100m races in the final fight for the crown.
As the show ended tonight, Love Island star Wes took the top prize for men while singer-songwriter Chelcee topped the women’s chart.
Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff return as presenters for the final season, hosting the show live alongside Alex Scott.
Speaking after his win, Wes said: “Oh my gosh, that’s great. The boys pushed each other so well.”
While Chelcee was speechless at her success, the manager added: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the girls. I’m so proud of you all so give it a shout out. All of you.”
Wes was named the ultimate champion of the game, scoring the highest score out of all the contestants. Josh Herdman and Rebecca Sarker were named bronze medalists, while silver medalists were Ryan Thomas and Phoenix Brown.
Celebrities – former professional and leading man Kevin Clifton, pop star Max George, songwriter Chelcee Grimes, model and autism ambassador Christine McGuinness, Coronation Street actor Colson Smith, writer news Lucrezia Millarini, musician and TV star Wes Nelson, Emmerdale actress Rebecca Sarker, actor Ryan Thomas, Love Island’s Olivia Attwood, Harry Potter’s Josh Herdman and Phoenix Brown – have impressed on the track. and in the pool but the final standings were revealed tonight.
The show was hit with ‘fix’ claims during the week when the women took part in the javelin launch event.
Christine, Phoenix and Chelcee failed to register a throw in the first round, but in the second round, Phoenix hit a whopping 22.46 meters putting her in first place while Christine placed second with 20 .05 meters.
Taking to Twitter, one frustrated fan wrote: “#TheGames… #Womens #Javelin… The GOOD thing about the TV is that ‘We’ can ALL see that #Phoenix’s 2nd throw has landed clear wings Tail-First. #FIX!! Or # NO!!”
“I don’t understand why they were trying to fix the leaderboard. Both Christine and Phoenix’s throws were illegal. The first hit hit the head. #Game“, another added, as a third person shared: “javelin, the interesting change of rules when the competition goes as it is written. ”
The fourth wrote: “What a bunch of ****** s. They explain Javelin’s rules then allow 2 throws very, very clearly the tail landed first to count? If you’re going to count? make a show like this at least try and do it right! I know it’s not a serious contest but it really is!”
