Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will raise issues of the economy and the causes of the crisis in this area. The Russian leader personally takes part in the preparation of the event, which was announced on Friday, June 17, by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this performance. The president himself is personally involved in the preparations, he takes this very seriously. And of course, we will wait for his assessment of what is happening, his vision of the future. This is precisely … about economic processes, ”said the press secretary of the Russian leader in an interview with Channel One.
Peskov is sure that everyone will listen to Putin’s speech with great attention, despite the fact that “an absolutely unprecedented economic war has begun against Russia” at the moment.
According to a Kremlin spokesman, both SPIEF and the speech of the head of state coincide with “unprecedented events in world diplomacy, in the world economy, in world politics.”
“This adds even more significance to the words that the president will voice,” Peskov concluded.
Earlier, on June 15, Assistant to the President of Russia for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov also noted that Putin, speaking at SPIEF, would assess the current situation in the global economy and politics.
According to him, it will be about the problems that the world economy is currently facing, about trade and financial wars and sanctions. The Russian leader will also share his assessment of the trend towards the formation of a multipolar economic model and assess the opportunities and prospects that this process opens up for participants in the entire global market.
The XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will run until June 18 at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center. Over 500 Russian companies from over 65 industries are participating in SPIEF 2022, with 80% of them represented at the CEO level, with the IT sector taking the lead.
