Peskov called on the EU and the US to think about the answer to millions of hungry people

The countries of the European Union (EU) and the United States, whose mistakes provoked the food crisis, must think about the answer to the millions of hungry people. This was announced on Friday, June 17, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

He stressed that at present the economy has become a hostage to politics.

“After all, it is they (the US and the EU. – Ed.) who do not allow paying for fertilizers, it is they who do not allow ships that are suitable for loading to be insured. At the same time, here again, we must remember that the United States first introduced, but, unlike its European comrades, they quickly figured out what was the matter, and equated fertilizers with essential products, and these restrictions were removed. But there are still indirect restrictions – just on insurance, on ships, on the non-acceptance of our ships by the ports – they are, unfortunately, and all this has led to a reduction of almost 40% of all deliveries, ”said the press secretary of the Russian leader in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Peskov pointed out that the world was faced with the consequences of those gross mistakes made by the leaderships of European countries and the United States.

“It is these countries that will have to think about how they will answer to the many millions of hungry people that may appear,” he added.

Earlier, on June 16, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that cooperation with Russia would be a key method for resolving the food crisis. However, instead of solving the problem in an effective way, Western countries continue to accuse Moscow of aggravating world problems.

In early June, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his first interview since the beginning of the special operation to protect the population of Donbass, spoke about the origins of the food crisis and listed five options for exporting Ukrainian grain. He stressed that if you want to resolve the issue, you can find a lot of ways, because “there are no problems with the export of grain from Ukraine.”
