An explosive device thrown from a car went off near a residential private house in the center of Melitopol. This was announced on Friday, September 23, by the chairman of the movement “We are with Russia”, a member of the council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region Vladimir Rogov.

“Today at about 7:00 <…> an explosive device went off, which was thrown out of the car. Residents of the area managed to see and remember the car. Orientation to the suspected car is sent to all law enforcement agencies. A search is underway for those involved in the terrorist act, ”he wrote on his Telegram channel.
As a result of the attack, the fence was damaged and the glass in the house was broken. There were no casualties.
The authorities of the region urged residents to report all suspicious persons or objects to law enforcement agencies.
On the eve of the explosion thundered in the area of the central market of the city. Residents and guests of the city could hear a single loud bang. Six people died.
The war correspondent of the TV channel “Izvestia” Roman Polshakov visited the scene. He said that all the goods in the market are scattered, the police and emergency services are working on the spot. According to Polshakov, by shelling the city, the armed forces of Ukraine (APU) are taking revenge on local residents on the eve of the referendum for their desire to reunite with Russia.
Prior to this, two powerful explosions thundered in the north of Melitopol on September 20. Eyewitnesses reported high columns of smoke rising into the sky in the microdistrict and the Kirov quarter.
Earlier this month, Rogov reported that the intensity of the shelling of the Zaporozhye region increased sharply after the decision to hold a referendum. He also stated that the Ukrainian period in the history of the Zaporozhye region is already in the past. According to him, the region “no longer connects anything with the current Ukraine, which is ruled by nationalists and terrorists.”
The referendum on the entry of the Zaporozhye region into Russia will be held on the model of voting in the Crimea from 23 to 27 September. On the same days, referendums will be held in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson region.
Part of the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine (Priazovye) was liberated during a special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. In May, the authorities of the region announced their desire to become part of Russia as a full-fledged subject – the Zaporozhye Republic.
