Amazon is creating a comedy reality show shot on Ring home surveillance cameras

Amazon is creating a comedy reality show called Ring Nation, shot on home surveillance cameras and doorbell cameras, writes Deadline.

It’s supposed to be a series of short videos about “funny animals, neighbors saving each other and military family reunions.”

The project is planned to be launched on Amazon Prime Video streaming on September 26, 2022. The show will be voiced by American actress Wanda Sykes.

At the same time, Vice describes the project as “Amazon’s propaganda campaign to normalize home surveillance” and notes that US police have “almost unlimited access” to materials from Ring cameras.

The reality show will be produced by the same company that filmed Live PD (On Patrol: Live), a project that consisted of videos of law enforcement officers’ chest cameras.

In 2021, several advocacy groups immediately demanded that the Federal Trade Commission ban Ring cameras entirely.

At the same time, journalists also obtained documents that suggest that Amazon’s new Astro robot will be able to integrate with Ring cameras to “detect criminals.”
