Deflation in Russia for the week from May 14 to May 20 amounted to 0.02%

For the period from May 14 to May 20, 2022, consumer prices decreased by 0.02% after increasing by 0.05% a week earlier (from May 7 to 13), the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported. Since the beginning of May, inflation has amounted to 0.13%, since the beginning of the year – 11.82%.

The last time a weekly deflation was recorded was in August 2021, when consumer prices fell by a symbolic 0.01%. At the same time, for the week from July 27 to August 2, 2021, the price decrease was 0.06%.

In May 2021, prices increased by 0.74%, from the beginning of the year – by 3.48%.

The average daily increase in prices since the beginning of May this year amounted to 0.006%.

Foodstuffs

During the period from May 14 to May 20, prices decreased: for pork and chicken meat – by 0.3%, frozen fish and pasta – by 0.2%, sterilized milk and wheat flour – by 0.1%. Prices for margarine and table salt increased by 0.8%, black tea – by 0.7%, sausages, sausages, rennet cheeses, sunflower oil – by 0.6%, boiled sausages, sour cream, dry milk formulas for baby food, rice, biscuits, canned fruits and berries for baby food – by 0.5%, chocolate candies – by 0.4%, beef, canned meat for baby food, pasteurized milk, buckwheat, millet – by 0.3%, lamb , bread and bakery products made from wheat flour of various varieties, vermicelli, canned vegetables for baby food, lunches in the canteen, cafe, snack bar (except for the canteen in the organization) – by 0.2%, semi-smoked and boiled-smoked sausages, butter, bread rye, vodka – by 0.1%.

Prices for chicken eggs on average across the country decreased by 3.6%, including in 54 subjects of the Russian Federation – by 0.1-5.0%, in 25 subjects – by 5.1-14.4%. In 3 subjects the prices have not changed. In 3 constituent entities, prices for chicken eggs increased by 0.3-2.2%.

Prices for granulated sugar on average in the country decreased by 0.8%, including in 66 constituent entities of the Russian Federation – by 0.1-4.6%. Prices have not changed in 7 subjects. In 12 subjects, prices for granulated sugar increased by 0.2-2.5%.

Fruit and vegetable products fell in price by 1.4% on average.

Medicines

In the group of observed medications, prices fell: rengalin – by 1.0%, levomekol – by 0.8%, ergoferon and nimesulide – by 0.6%, validol – by 0.4%, multivitamins – by 0.2%, combined analgesics – by 0.1%. Prices for sodium metamizole (domestic analgin) increased by 0.4%, allochol – by 0.1%.

Consumer goods

Of certain types of non-food essential goods, prices increased: matches – by 1.8%, toilet soap – by 1.5%, laundry soap – by 1.0%, toilet paper, toothpastes and toothbrushes – by 0.7%, diapers for newborns – by 0.4%, dry pet food – by 0.3%, baby diapers – by 0.2%, washing powders – by 0.1%.

Of the other non-food products, prices increased: for shampoos – by 0.7%, electric vacuum cleaners – by 0.5%, children’s T-shirts – by 0.4%, cars of foreign brands, T-shirts, men’s T-shirts – by 0.3%, cigarettes with a filter – by 0.2%, men’s socks – by 0.1%.

Prices for smartphones decreased by 1.5%, chipboard, oriented strand board – by 1.0%, TVs – by 0.9%, edged boards – by 0.6%, sneakers for adults – by 0.4%, women’s tights and jeans for children – by 0.2%, sneakers for children – by 0.1%.

Prices for motor gasoline and diesel fuel decreased by 0.1%.

Services

The average cost of living in 3* hotels increased by 0.6%, 1* hotels and motels – by 0.5%, 4*-5* hotels – by 0.3%, 2* hotels and hostels, as well as vouchers to sanatoriums – by 0.2%, rest houses and boarding houses – by 0.1%.

Tariffs for city buses and trolleybuses increased by 0.1% on average in Russia.

The cost of a flight in the economy class cabin of an aircraft decreased by 3.5%.
