Ex-president of Moldova Dodon is being searched, he is suspected of treason

On the morning of May 24, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Moldova, together with the National Center for Combating Corruption and the Information and Security Service, searched the house of former head of state Igor Dodon.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by point.md.

“Searchs are also being carried out in other places, real estate belonging to intermediaries is being studied as part of a criminal case initiated on reasonable suspicion of committing a crime under Art. 324 (passive corruption), Art. 181/2 (acceptance of political party funding from a criminal organization), art. 337 (high treason) and Art. 330/2 (illegal enrichment),” prosecutor Mariana Kerpek said.

It is noted that a video from 2019, made in the office of the PDM party, appeared in the public space, in which the oligarch and chairman of the party, Vlad Plahotniuc, handed over to President Igor Dodon at that time a package in which, presumably, there were money.

Subsequently, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Moldova decided not to open a criminal case, noting that it did not know how true the record was and under what circumstances it was made.

As Ukrinform reported, in December last year, Dodon was suspected of embezzling nearly $12 million. that Energocom has already negotiated and concluded two contracts for the supply of electricity at a price 29% cheaper.

The pro-Russian Dodon was President of the Republic of Moldova from December 23, 2016 to December 24, 2020.
