Foreign Ministers of Lithuania and Britain discussed ways to unblock the port of Odessa

At a meeting in London, the Foreign Ministers of Great Britain and Lithuania – Elisabeth Truss and Gabrielius Landsbergis – discussed a range of issues of supporting Ukraine during the war, in particular, the possibility of unblocking the port of Odessa.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.

It is noted that Landsbergis noted the need to continue pressure on Russia so that it stops the aggression against Ukraine, which today protects Europe. At the same time, he noted that the UK has shown “exceptional leadership in condemning the Kremlin’s aggression, providing military, humanitarian and financial support to Ukraine and imposing unprecedented sanctions.”

The ministers discussed the need to concentrate the efforts of partners in order to find a way to open the port of Odessa as soon as possible and ensure the supply of Ukrainian grain to countries that are facing the threat of famine.

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister thanked his British counterpart for strengthening the eastern flank of NATO, “active participation and leadership in ensuring the security of the Baltic region.” A joint declaration was also signed at the meeting – Lithuania and the UK are committed to strengthening strategic cooperation, promoting political dialogue, partnership in defense, security and other areas.

As Ukrinform reported, on the eve of Liz Truss, she said that London had begun negotiations with the allies on sending modern weapons to Moldova according to NATO standards to protect against Russia.
