Four explosions kill at least 12 in Afghanistan

On Wednesday, four bombs exploded in minibuses and a mosque in Afghanistan, killing at least 12 people.

Details: At least 10 people died Wednesday when three minibus bombs exploded in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, health and police officials said.

“Bombs were placed on three minibuses in different parts of the city,” Balkh provincial police spokesman Asif Waziri told AFP, adding that 15 others were injured.

Najibullah Tavana, head of the Balkh health department, said three women were among the 10 dead.

Hours after the explosions, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the explosions.

Another bomb exploded at a mosque in Kabul late Wednesday, killing at least two people and injuring 10 others, the interior ministry said.

The Kabul emergency hospital reported that five people were killed and 22 others were injured as a result of the explosion at the mosque.

Witnesses said several ambulances arrived at a mosque in Kabul to transport the victims.

It is not yet known if Wednesday’s bombings were directed at any particular community.
