Boris Johnson returns from vacation on Friday to start campaigning for a new leader of the Conservative Party and British Prime Minister.
This writes The Telegraph, reports “European Truth”.
According to the publication, Johnson is already privately urging Conservative MPs to support his return to Downing Street, promising that only he can win the next general election for the Tories.
The former prime minister asks another potential candidate, Rishi Sunak, to contact him and “be together again” in government.
Johnson will return from a vacation in the Caribbean on Friday, with a meeting of supporters of the campaign led by Jacob Reese-Mogg scheduled for Saturday.
No prime minister has returned for a second term after leaving office after Labor Harold Wilson and before him Sir Winston Churchill, Johnson’s British political idol.
Only those MPs who receive support from 100 of Tory’s nearly 360 MPs will advance to the first round. Candidates have until Monday 2:00 pm to collect the necessary votes.
We will remind, British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation after 6 weeks in office.
Earlier this week, Britain’s new Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, announced the de facto reversal of the tax reform initiated by Truss, which led the Conservative Party to discuss her resignation.
