Zelensky: If we do not export grain from Ukraine in the coming months, there will be a disaster

The business and political elite of the world must make efforts to get the blocked 22 million tons of grain out of Ukraine and prevent starvation in some countries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during an online meeting at the Ukrainian House in Davos, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ahead is a food crisis in the world – it will be, there will be a shortage of food products. 22 million tons of grain, sunflower, etc. blocked by the Russian Federation, which controls the entire Black and Azov coast, all our ports are blocked. The entire elite – the business elite, the political elite – must take certain measures to unlock this grain, so that it can be exported to the countries of Africa, Asia, European states, so that people have something to eat,” the head of state stressed.

He stressed that in some countries the problem will be precisely that there will be nothing for people to eat.

“If we do not export (grain. – Ed.) in the coming months, if there are no political agreements with Russia through intermediaries… there will be famine, there will be a catastrophe, there will be a shortage, there will be a high price. And all this will rot in our country,” Zelensky added.

As reported, Ukraine proposed to create an international organization of responsible food exporters to avoid starvation in many countries.
