Former Italian Prime Minister Ciriaco de Mita died on Thursday, May 26 at the age of 94. This was reported in the newspaper la Repubblica, citing the deputy mayor of Nusco, Walter Vigilante.
“The former Prime Minister and Secretary of the District of Colombia, Ciriaco de Mita, passed away this morning at 7 a.m. at the Villa dei Pini Nursing Home in Avellino. <…> In February, he underwent surgery after a fracture of the femur due to a fall at home, ”the publication says.
Ciriaco De Mita was Prime Minister of Italy from 1988 to 1989. Then he was the secretary of the Christian Democrats. In the newspaper la Repubblica, he was called “the most influential person in the state of that time.” During his year in office, he introduced a new allowance for employees called the “family nucleus allowance”, the amount of which varied depending on the number of family members and family income for the previous year.
