When they didn’t get what they wanted, the attackers took $200,000, two phones, three watches, and a $106,000 diamond ring, local media reported.
A cryptocurrency expert who was beaten told police that the attackers wanted to become investors and turned to him for advice on how to invest in bitcoin.
After receiving advice, the men invested $30 million, which grew to $100 million in a few days. After such financial success, they attracted other investors, but within a few days the currency collapsed and they lost their money.
The victim told the court that the gang had contacted him again to see how they could make up for the loss. He advised them to invest in a new virtual currency that has yet to be officially launched.
Investors liked this idea and created a currency trading website. But 15 minutes later the site was hacked and the currency dropped to zero. Therefore, they did not come up with anything better than breaking into an investor’s villa and demanding their money.
