“I have always rejected the politics of fiction. In particular, this also applies to talk about nuclear weapons,” he stressed.

Macron also recalled that France’s nuclear doctrine has not changed for a long time.

Earlier Wednesday, Biden said that for the first time since the Cold War and the Caribbean crisis, the world is threatened with a nuclear war, accusing Russia of the threat.

On October 6, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that the United States sees no signs that the Russian Federation has decided to use a nuclear arsenal. He stressed that the Pentagon takes this very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation.

On the same day, Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko stated that Russia had never had any plans to threaten with nuclear weapons.

Also on Thursday, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov shared his opinion that the US and NATO have an unhealthy fear of the fact that the Russian Federation has nuclear weapons. He noted that since the appearance of such weapons, the Americans, the French, and the Russians have an understanding that there can be no winners in a nuclear war.

Earlier, on September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin in a televised address drew attention to the statements of some high-ranking representatives of the leading NATO states about the possibility and admissibility of using nuclear weapons against Russia. He stressed that nuclear blackmail was used by the West.
