More than half of Britons have no idea what their car buttons, switches and icons mean or what they do.
When asked about the performance of their vehicles, a total of 53% of respondents said they were confused, and according to a survey one in ten said they were ignorant about almost every aspect.

More than one in ten drivers admit that they have no idea about all the symbols and switches in their car.
If you accidentally hit the wrong button or switch while driving, you are not alone – 45% of people admit to making the same mistake.
Driving with the wrong car clock on was a problem shared by 24% of respondents, while 22% said they try to blink when they regularly turn on their windshield wiper.
One in four said they did not know how to open the bonnet, while a third said they were embarrassed not to know the general function of the car with friends or family as passengers – and needed their help.
More worryingly, 62% of the 2,000 people surveyed said they did not know what it meant when a warning light or sound went off.
A survey conducted by WeBuyAnyCar also found that 12% were forced to listen to a radio station because they did not know how to change it, the same number struggling with their SAT navigation.
Richard Evans, Head of Technical Services at WeBuyAnyCar, says: “With the advent of high-tech cars and electric vehicles and the more complex functionality that comes with them, it is not surprising that many of us are afraid. The various features and modes that are now available to us.

While 14% said they only went to a gas pump to forget which way their car’s gas cap was on, 29% had no idea that their fuel gauge arrow told them (with an arrow).
Upgrading to a new high-tech car scares about 70% of drivers, and while 37% say they still try to learn its gadgets even though they know they can’t, 16% say they don’t even try.
