The flag of Russia was raised on the building of the city hall of Svetlodarsk in Donbass. This was announced on May 24 by the mayor of the city of Debaltseve, Igor Zakharevich.
“Now the Russian flag has already appeared in Svetlodarsk, and I confirm that it is hung on the building of the Svetlodar administration,” the Donetsk News Agency quoted Zakharevich as saying.
Svetlodarsk is located 18 km from Debaltseve. One of the largest thermal power plants in Europe, the Uglegorsk TPP, is located in the city.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the flag of the Russian Federation was raised in the city of Melitopol, liberated back in mid-March, located in the south of the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine.
On May 5, it became known that the flag of Russia and the Banner of Victory were hoisted in the city of Snigirevka in the Nikolaev region.
At the same time, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said on May 18 that Russia would restore facilities in the liberated territories of Ukraine.
Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The key goals of the Russian military are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. This is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian state and people, the Kremlin said.
