The American low-visibility B-21 Raider bomber is designed to deter potential US adversaries. The publication 19FortyFive praised the progress in the development of a promising bomber, which is considered the coolest aircraft in the world.
It is noted that the US Department of the Air Force has allocated $ 108 million to Northrop Grumman for pre-procurement under the B-21 development program. The funds are intended for the purchase of components needed to create the first batch of aircraft.
It is believed that the B-21 Raider will go into operation in the late 2020s. The aircraft will be one of the components of the family of long-range shock systems. These systems will be able to perform reconnaissance tasks and provide electronic countermeasures.
Last week, Northrop Grumman CEO Katie Warden announced that serial production of the B-21 could begin between 2025 and 2026.
“Progress continues on all elements of the B-21 program. The Defense Appropriations Act for the 2022 fiscal year provided funding for five new military construction projects to support the B-21 mission at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, which will be the first major Raider base, ”the paper said.
An inconspicuous hangar for servicing B-21 Raider bombers is already being built on the territory of the base.
