Top LOI Premier Division club players arrested in match-fixing probe

A current player from a prominent Premier League division club in the Irish League was taken into custody yesterday as part of a Gardner investigation into match-fixing allegations. bn Men between the ages of 20 and 60 have been arrested in a series of early morning raids, the latest development in an investigation that really began in 2019.

Seven of these teams have played in the Irish league but five are no longer active at that level.

However, a Premier Division player and a First Division player are involved in the investigation focusing on the historical activities of a club.

It is believed that as of 2016, betting patterns across different markets have been studied.

It is not clear whether the players in question will be involved in the game in the coming days.

Five of the 10 were released last night without charge and the Guardian will prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The FAI has issued a statement noting the latest developments in the investigation launched by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB).
