Overdue wage arrears in Russia decreased in April by 11.8%, or by 119.1 million rubles, and as of May 1, 2022, amounted to 889 million rubles, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported. In March, debt growth was 8.3%.
The debt is calculated according to the data provided by organizations of observed types of economic activity (not related to small businesses).
Of the total amount of unpaid wages as of May 1, 2022, debts formed in 2022 account for 198.3 million rubles (22.3%), in 2021 – 170.2 million rubles (19.1%) , in 2020 and earlier – 520.5 million rubles (58.6%).
The share of employees of the surveyed organizations who had wage arrears as of May 1, 2022 was less than 1%.
By types of economic activity, the number of employees to whom there was a debt was distributed as follows: manufacturing industries – 55.4%; construction – 12.1%; agriculture, hunting and provision of services in these areas; logging – 8.5%; water supply; water disposal, organization of collection and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of pollution – 5.8%; transport – 5.4%; mining – 4.4%.
