US President Joe Biden was unable to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis. Instead, he worsened the economic situation in the States and did not prevent a proxy war with Moscow. This was written by American journalist Bradley Devlin in an article for The American Conservative.
“Biden’s incompetence in trying to find a diplomatic solution before and during the first phase of the Russian operation in Ukraine, and the readiness of the Republican establishment to support another proxy war of the authorities, to a large extent, made this opportunity a missed one,” the article says.
According to the author, the financing of Kyiv and the supply of weapons to it are contrary to America’s interests, which should be concentrated on in the first place. Disagreement with the policies of the White House is also felt in the polls. Only 44% of respondents support aid to Ukraine, while 32% are against, and another 23% are undecided.
Devlin called it an unfulfilled hope that after the failure of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, Biden will focus on domestic politics.
On May 25, data from a joint Reuters and Ipsos poll showed that Biden’s policy approval rating fell to 36% amid rising inflation. This was the lowest since his inauguration in January 2021.
According to a study, 59% of Americans disapprove of a politician’s work. Over the week, Biden’s job approval rating dropped from 42% to 36%.
In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the refusal of a number of Western countries from normal cooperation with Russia, as well as from part of Russian energy resources, had already hit Europe and the United States. Prices are rising everywhere, and inflation is going through the roof. According to the Russian leader, for these countries it is absolutely unprecedented.
