The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on October 15 showed the work of mortar units of the Southern Military District (SMD) during a special operation to protect Donbass.
“We are working with a 120mm 2B11 mortar. Its firing range on a variable charge is up to 5700 meters, on a long-range charge we hit targets up to 7 km. We work daily. The enemy periodically, on average once every two or three days, carries out provocative actions and tries to enter the lines of our motorized rifle units, ”said Ivan, the crew commander.

The military department notes that the mortar crews of the units of the Southern Military District support the main forces of the Russian troops and regularly destroy manpower, command and observation posts and camouflaged equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Earlier, on October 13, the Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat work of the Shturm-S self-propelled anti-tank missile systems of the Southern Military District in the special operation zone. As noted in the department, Shturm-S is used to destroy enemy tanks and other armored vehicles. It is capable of successfully destroying manpower and field fortifications, as well as low-speed low-flying air targets.
On the eve of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed the work of the crews of self-propelled mortars 2S4 “Tulip”. It is specified that the equipment is intended for the destruction of fortified formations and command posts of the enemy, as well as the elimination of weapons of various types. Mortars can hit even a highly protected object that smaller caliber artillery pieces cannot cope with.
At the end of September, Izvestia’s military commander Semyon Yeremin showed how the Russian military was working on the positions of the VFU using Tyulpan mortars around the fortified area in the village of Vodyanoye in the Avdeevsky direction. He noted that now the fortified area is being systematically broken up so that the Russian army could continue to storm.
