A woman with a baby fell under the wheels of an electric train in the suburbs, a criminal case was opened. This was reported on May 27 by the press service of the Western Interregional Investigation Department on Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
“The investigating authorities of the Western Interregional Investigation Department on Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case on the death of a woman and a baby in the Kazan direction of the Moscow Railway on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder”),” the agency said in a statement on its website.
It is noted that the incident occurred between the stations “63 km – Shevlyagino” and “Cherusti-Moscow”. According to preliminary data, a woman born in 1985 with her child in her arms deliberately stepped into the railway track in front of an approaching electric train.
Investigators found out that the driver gave warning signals, applied emergency braking, but the collision could not be avoided. As a result, the victims died before the arrival of the ambulance.
Currently, investigators and forensic experts are working at the scene. The causes of the tragedy are being established. In particular, the rolling stock has already been inspected, members of the locomotive brigade have been interrogated, in addition, the necessary examinations have been appointed and a complex of investigative actions has been organized.
On the evening of April 12, at the Obukhovo railway station in St. Petersburg, an electric train knocked down a 44-year-old man to death. It was reported that a local resident crossed paths in headphones.
