The first details about Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 have been revealed: the platform will be unusual
The first inside information about the next flagship mobile chipset Qualcomm, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, has appeared on the Internet. It is expected to be released later this year and will have a very unusual configuration of 1 + 2 + 2 + 3 core. We are talking about a Cortex-X3 core, two Cortex-A720s, two Cortex-A710s and three Cortex-A510s.
The Cortex-X3 and A720 cores will show 30 percent more peak power than the X1 and A78 used in the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This is probably performance on the same frequency. It should be noted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be built using a 4-nanometer TSMC process, which is also used in the production of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 may be the first mobile processor to use four different core types (the current flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2). The chipset will include an Adreno 740 graphics adapter, which, however, will be built on the same architecture as the current Adreno 730 in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
